Andrea
Trimarchi (17-03-1983) and Simone Farresin (15-09-1980) are
FormaFantasma – two Italian designers based in Eindhoven, The
Netherlands.
The
collaboration between the two started during their BA in communication
design, illustrating books and magazines. Their interests in product
design developed on the IM Masters course at Design Academy Eindhoven,
were they graduated in July 2009 with a thesis based on traditional
Sicilian folk craft.
Andrea
and Simone's current interests are in re-evaluating disappearing craft
techniques by creating links between local cultures and global context,
and integrating craft elements into the industrial processes. Apparent
incongruities or unexpected mixes are part of their work, as well as a
desire to play with the boundaries between fragility and durability,
low tech and hi-tech, and the cheap and the valuable.
Since
the first year of their masters their work has been shown during the
Milan and the Dutch Design weeks and during the ICFF in New York, and
has featured in many design magazines and books.
Works
by FormaFantasma are currently exhibited at Droog in NY and the Rossana
Orlandi Gallery in Milan.
